Retired personnel of various paramilitary forces today began a three day protest at Jantar Mantar, demanding One Rank One Pension , OROP benefits and other privileges under the ex-servicemen category.
vice chairman of All-India Central Paramilitary Forces and Ex-servicemen Welfare Association Coordination Committee , Mr S P S Malik said, if the government can give ORPO to the military personnel then why they are being discriminated against. Mr Malik said association will continue their protest until their demands are met. He said that the defence and paramilitary forces should be kept on equal footing while granting service benefits.
The agitators have also demanded that benefits of health care and canteen facilities should be extended to the families of both the serving and retired personnel. There are about nine lakh personnel serving in these forces while there are an equal number of retired personnel in the country.
