Rajya Sabha had to be adjourned for the day due to lack of quorum. During the post lunch session on Friday, when Minister of State for Transport and Highways, Mansukh Lal Mandaviya moved the Admiralty(Jurisdiction and Settlement of Maritime Claims) Bill for the passage, Congress member Jairam Ramesh raised the issue of quorum. Following this, Deputy Chairman P J Kurien adjourned the House for the day at around 5.20 PM.
The House was scheduled to work till 6 PM. Today being Friday, it was private members’ day and the political parties had agreed to take the Bill today after private members’ business.
