Punjab will electronically transfer 4000 crore rupees in the accounts of commission agents for making further payment to farmers after procuring their produce during the ongoing procurement season. The process is beginning today.

In a press release, the State Government said, the money is said to be disbursed in the next 24 hours giving much reprieve to farmers who blocked the trains for two days in the state in protest against slow pace of procurement and value cut.

The government has also decided to bear 10 rupees 88 paisa value cut to be imposed by the state agencies to procure damaged grains also. Now the farmers would get full MSP for their sold wheat.

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has said that arrangements have been made to lift every grain from the grain markets and dues of farmers would be cleared in couple of days. He and Deputy Chief Minister along with a team of senior officers are closely monitoring the procurement process in the state.
