Prime Minister Narendra Modi today asked teachers to work towards bringing out inherent strength of students, especially those from the poor and rural areas.
Interacting with the winners of National Teachers’ Awards, 2017 at his official residence today on the eve of Teachers’ Day, Mr Modi said that educators should work towards removing disconnect between teachers and students.
The Prime Minister also encouraged the teachers to digitally transform their schools and their neighbourhood. Mr Modi congratulated the awardees for their efforts towards improving the quality of education in the country.
He commended their dedication towards spreading education. The Prime Minister said that a teacher remains a teacher throughout life.

During the interaction, the awardees narrated their inspirational stories in transforming their schools into centres of learning and excellence.
They also thanked the Prime Minister for the new online nomination process and for schemes like Digital India, which is bringing a big qualitative change in school education throughout the country.
Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar was also present on the occasion. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will confer the awards on the winners at a function in New Delhi tomorrow.
This year, the Ministry of Human Resource Development has revised the guidelines for the selection of Teachers for National Awards, 2017.
The basic premise now is that the new scheme should be transparent, fair and reward demonstrated excellence and performance and has been inspired by recent innovations in major national awards.
