Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Maken said though the Congress party has not been in power at the Centre for the past three years and in Delhi for the last two years, people still fondly remember the 10-year rule of the Congress at the Centre and the 15-year rule of the party in Delhi, and they want Congress back in power.

Ajay MakenMaken said this while addressing a district convention at the Meetapur Chowk in the Badarpur district today, to protest against demonetization, and the 10-year misrule of the BJP in the three MCDs and the two-year misrule of the AAP Government in Delhi. The convention was organized by Badarpur District Congress Committee president and ex-MLA Ram Singh Netaji. Prominent others who attended the convention were ex-MPsi Sajjan Kumar and Ramesh Kumar besides others.

Maken said a large number of people stay in unauthorized colonies, JJ clusters and resettlement colonies. He said people in unauthorized colonies have always lived in uncertainty as there was the fear of bull dozers razing down their dwelling units. But at the direction of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi, after realizing the difficulties of the poor, the Congress charted out a plan to approve the lay-out plans given by the Residents’ Welfare Associations of unauthorized colonies to regularize them, which gave massive relief to lakhs of people living in many unauthorized colonies.

The DPCC chief said when Congress was in power in Delhi in 2013, the DTC had 5445 buses in its fleet. But instead of enhancing the DTC fleet, there are 1100 less buses in the DTC fleet now, during the two-year tenure of the AAP Government in Delhi, causing tremendous hardships to the commuters, as the poor and the middle class solely depend on DTC buses for commuting.
