India has said that the onus is now squarely on Islamabad to act against the terror groups which find safe havens in Pakistan and support cross border terrorism. Briefing media in New Delhi today, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said, Pakistan must dismantle the infrastructure of terrorism if it wishes to be seen as a responsible member of the comity of nations. He said, the international community is also suffering from the Pak-sponsored terrorism.
Referring to the recent terror attack in Uri, Mr Swarup said, India has conveyed its concern to Pakistan. He said, most countries including US, UK, Russia, France, Saudi Arabia have very strongly condemned the attack. In reply to a question, Mr Swarup said, India hopes that the bill brought by the lawmakers in US designating Pakistan as a terrorist state will be treated with utmost seriousness.
At UN, India today called Pakistan a terrorist state and accused it of carrying out war crimes against Indians through its long-standing policy of sponsoring terrorism. Exercising India’s Right of Reply to Sharif’s speech about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, First Secretary in the Permanent Mission of India to the UN, Eenam Gambhir said, the worst violation of human rights is terrorism. She said, sponsoring terrorism is Pakistan’ state policy and when it practiced as an instrument of state policy it is a war crime.
Earlier, addressing a press conference at India’s permanent mission in New York last night, after Sharif’s address to the UN General Assembly, Minister of State for External Affairs MJ Akbar, rejected Sharif’s offer to India to enter into a serious and sustained dialogue.
