Exposing Pakistan’s duplicity, India’s Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar today said that there could not be a segmented and differentiated fight against terrorism.
Delivering a keynote address on India’s Diplomatic Initiatives at an international media conference in New Delhi, Mr Jaishankar said, state and non-state actors is a false dichotomy and the state cannot escape responsibility.
He said, the world is aware about where the nesting ground of terrorism is in India’s neighnourhood. he added that combating terrorism should not be an issue of difference.
Speaking on ASEAN-India relations, the Foreign Secretary said, the relevance of looking or acting east has been renewed by domestic developments in India over the last few years. He said, ASEAN is very important for India. He said, Japan and South Korea along with ASEAN are natural partners.
Mr Jaishankar said, Physical connectivity with ASEAN can be a game changer.
On India-China ties, the Foreign Secretary said, displaying mutual sensitivity to each other’s concerns is necessary. He said, China and India ought to approach their bilateral ties with strategic maturity.
He said, a committee of experts has submitted its report on Bangladesh-China-India-Myamar road project and it will be reviewed by the year end.
