In Canada, more than 155,000 Canadian public sector workers went on strike today, after failing to secure a wage agreement with the federal government.

The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) union said contract negotiations would continue even as it called for its members working for the Treasury Board and the Canada Revenue Agency to go on strike at midnight.

The PSAC further stated its members would form picket lines at 250 locations across the country. The contract negotiations encompass two major groups of personnel, 120,000 Treasury Board employees and more than 35,000 revenue agency employees.

The strike will affect various federal services and may cause tax refunds to be delayed because it occurs during tax filing season.
