Prime Minister Narendra Modi today accused the Gandhi family, for repeated disruptions in Parliament saying using term ‘one family’. Indirectly targeting Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul, Modi accused them of blocking passage of bills aimed at benefitting the poor. He was addressing tea-garden workers at a rally in Moran town of Dibrugarh district in the poll-bound state of Assam.
In his address to tea-garden workers, which form a major chunk of voters in Assam, Modi alleged without taking names that it was only “one family” which was indulging in “negative politics”. PM Modi claimed that there were leaders in opposition parties other than the Congress who wanted the Parliament to function despite being opposed to him.
“Those who have lost the election (in 2014) and have come down from 400 to 40 have decided not to allow Modi to work. They have decided to create obstacles and difficulties. The conspiracy for the same is going on,” he said, referring clearly to Congress.
He also says that, the fear and agony of losing ground in the last parliamentary election, this party tends to hamper the development initiatives by disrupting proceedings of the parliament so that the present government cannot attain its’ goal within the shortest possible time.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that eastern parts of the country must develop, for the all-round development of India. In this context, he said the Central Government is paying special attention to the North-Eastern region by boosting infrastructure and connectivity.
He was speaking after inaugurating Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited, a petrochemical complex, at Lepetkata, near Dibrugarh in Assam. He also dedicated to the nation, the wax plant of Numaligarh Refineries Limited.
Mr. Modi said that the two projects being dedicated to the nation today, are important for two reasons, for the value addition they would achieve for natural raw materials and for the employment opportunities they would create for the youth of Assam.
PM should not make excuses, he should work: Rahul Gandhi
New Delhi: The Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that Prime Minister should not make excuses and start running the country.
“Job of the Prime Minister is not to make excuses. and he should start running the country” said Rahul Gandhi hitting back at Narendra Modi for targeting the Gandhi family.
The Congress Vice President’s remarks came ahead of the budget session of Parliament beginning Feb 23, signalling that that the main opposition will confront the NDA dispensation on several issues.
Taking a swipe at Modi, Gandhi remarked, “All the Prime Minister has been doing for the last 18 months is to make excuses as to why the economy is not running, why the farmers are not getting their due, why the labourers are not getting what they should get”.
The Congress vice president’s remarks came when his reaction was sought over Modi pinning the blame on the Gandhi family for Parliament not functioning and the charge that they are taking revenge for defeat in LS polls.
“India did not choose Narendra Modi to make excuses. India chose a Leader and the Leader should not make excuses, the Leader should do the job that he has been elected to do,” he said.
