Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju on Friday said that no final decision has been taken on the issue of return and settlement of Kashmiri Pandits in separate clusters in Kashmir valley. He said consultation process on this issue is going on with the State Government and all other stakeholders to reach any consensus. Talking to media persons on the sidelines of the 2nd Meeting of Eminent Freedom Fighters in Srinagar, the Minister, who is also the Chairman of the said Committee, asserted that Central Govt is working on the comprehensive process for ensuring peace and tranquility in the State with safe and dignified return of Kashmiri Pandits and other migrants in the Kashmir Valley.
On AFSPA revocation, Kiren Rijiju asserted that though peace and normalcy has returned to Kashmir there are certain issues yet to be finalized before taking a final call on the revocation of AFSPA from the State. He said as of now Ministry of Defence has a strong view against revocation of AFSPA. Pertinently, the eight member Committee of Eminent Freedom Fighters under the chairmanship of Union MoS (Home) Kiren Rijiju, in Friday meeting discussed the issues of concern to the Freedom Fighters. The issues include granting reservation in Central Government Services to all dependents of the freedom fighters, giving job in railways to at least one person recommended by freedom fighters and providing free electricity to all the freedom fighters, besides others.
