The government today said, it is now mandatory for all NGOs and voluntary organisations to register with NITI Aayog to receive grant-in-aid from Ministries ans departments of the central government.
Minister of State for Planning Rao Inderjit Singh said this in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.
He said, all NGOs and voluntary organisations have to sign up on NGO-DARPAN portal to obtain a system-generated unique ID before applying for grant under any scheme of central government.
The Minister further said that as on 24th of this month, a total of around 81 thousand NGOs and organisations have signed up on the portal.
