NDRF rescue


The NATIONAL DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE, NDRF has intensified its rescue and relief operations in flood ravaged state of Assam, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal and fanned out its 126 flood rescue teams across the country to help the people affected by floods.

Till now, over 1334 persons have been rescued, 35000 persons & 142 livestock have been evacuated by NDRF from the flood affected areas of Assam, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. The rescue operations continue.

Bihar: NDRF teams are on war footing to combat the flood fury by leading from the front in worst flood affected areas of Supaul, Kishanganj, Motihari, Bettiah, Purnea, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Madhubani, Araria, Gopalganj, Katihar, Sitamari, Saran and Khagaria. Besides rescue operations, NDRF teams are ferrying relief materials in NDRF boats and distributing among the flood victims in far flung areas. All efforts are being made to reach and rescue the maximum people. Yesterday, NDRF rescued 05 persons, evacuated 7,185 persons and 25 livestock from flood affected areas. Besides, Approx. 200 qtl relief materials have been distributed among the flood victims. Medical components of NDRF teams comprising of doctors and paramedics are relentlessly engaged in providing medical assistance and provided medical assistance to 648 flood affected persons. 27 teams are operational in Bihar.

Uttar Pradesh: 23 flood rescue teams of NDRF are actively engaged in rescue and relief operations with full zeal and commitment. The NDRF teams are helping in evacuating distressed and trapped people to safer places and relief camps. Yesterday, NDRF teams rescued 08 persons, evacuated 3352 persons from Balrampur, Bahraich, Shravasti, Maharajganj, Barakanki, Lakhimpur Kheri, Gorakhpur and Sidharthnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. NDRF teams also distributed 6400 water bottles, 6200 food packets and 2237 persons were provided medical assistance. The operations are in progress.

Assam: The rescue teams have been deployed in 16 locations in Assam. Yesterday, around 500 people rescued from various flood affected areas of Barpeta and Biswanath. In addition to the rescue operations, 1010 Qtl. ration and other essential items were distributed among the flood affected people.

West Bengal: Yesterday, 07 additional teams of NDRF were airlifted from Chennai reached Kolkata. In addition, 01 team was also mobilized to South Dinajpur from NDRF base Kolkata. These teams have been deployed in worst flood affected areas of Malda, North & South Dinjapur in West Bengal where most of the low lying areas have been flooded and marooned several people. NDRF teams are relentlessly carrying out rescue and relief operations. Yesterday, NDRF teams rescued 623 persons from various flood affected areas of Malda, North & South Dinajpur districts. Teams also distributed relief materials to flood victims. 19 teams have been deployed in West Bengal.

NDRF HQ, New Delhi is monitoring the situation closely and in touch with other agencies and stakeholders.
