NEW DELHI—Major steps are being taken by the Maharashtra State government for the progress of people living in tribal areas by providing various emergency services, said the State Governor Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao, at the 47th Conference of Governors here at Rashtrapati Bhawan .

He said that the state has issued devolving 5% of the annual tribal sub-plan funds directly to the Scheduled Area Gram Panchayats for the development work. Major steps have also been taken in order to provide best communications services, health services, in the districts of Nandurbar, Gadchiroli, Nanded, and the Melghat area of Amravati district.

Observing the sea borders of the State, for registration and investigation work ‘Yellow Gate police station’ in Mumbai has been set up. Maharashtra is coordinating with the country’s western coast which encompasses five states. He further said, for proper observation and identification of fisherman, matters of coastal security, security and safety of fisherman by setting up Fishery Monitoring, Control and Surveillance centres in all coastal districts, he said.

Decisions have been taken by the state, for encouraging the living standards of tribal people, involving Corporate sector in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Skill development, and gave information about the progress of Clean India Mission Conference.

The President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the two-day Conference of Governors. The Dignitaries present at the inaugural Conference includes, Hamid Ansari the Vice President, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, and Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj

The Conference was also attended by 23 Governors and two Lt. Governors of the states and Union Territories.

The Two- day Conference underlined the schemes like Make-In-India, Start-up India, Smart City Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission have to be implemented by 2022, and to discuss on improving the quality of higher education in the country.
