Security forces gunned down a terrorist in an encounter in Bijbehara area of Anantnag district today. The gunfight started after security forces challenged terrorists at Chek Bevoora-Hadigam village in Dachnipora area of Bijbehara.
Security sorces said, the slain terrorist has been identified as Sameer alias Basit Rasool of Marhama village of Bijbehara. Family sources said that Basit joined terrorism four months ago. Meanwhile, an anti-terror operation is also underway at Bomai in Sopore town in Baramulla district since early this morning.
Security sources said, the gunfight between the terrorists and the security forces started after the cordon and search operation was launched early this morning. Sources said a Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist is suspected to be holed up in the area.
