In Jammu and Kashmir, Amarnath Yatra resumed from Jammu base camp this afternoon after remaining suspended for two consecutive days. According to police sources, after being assured of the security of pilgrims, the fresh batch of pilgrims is about to move towards Srinagar from Bhagawati Nagar Jammu. The base camp officials told media that over 5200 registered pilgrims were stranded at various transit places in Jammu.

Earlier today authorities made arrangements for dispatching all the stranded Yatris at base camps of Baltal and Pahalgam, towards Jammu via Srinagar Jammu National Highway. A police spokesman said about 25,000 Yatris in over 1600 vehicles left Srinagar towards Jammu early today. He said the Yatra was released from both the base camps towards Holy Cave this morning.

Till 12 Noon over 2400 left base camps for darshan while nearly 450 pilgrims had darshan at Holy cave. The spokesman said about 2800 yatris had darshan. With this, nearly one lakh 29 thousand yatris had darshan of ice lingam till now.

The batch of 2397 pilgrims including 1823 male, 471 female and 1003 Sadhus left the Bhagawati Nagar base camp in a Cavaclade of 68 vehicles around 6 p.m.
