India is moving towards resuming tourist visa services for Bangladeshi citizens, with an announcement on timelines expected soon, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma said on Monday.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Bangladesh Prime Minister’s Economic Adviser Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir at the Secretariat, Verma said the process to restart visa services is ongoing. “The date for resumption will be announced once finalised,” he said.
Earlier this month, the envoy had indicated that visa services between the two neighbours would resume shortly. Monday’s meeting also reviewed ongoing development cooperation and explored new areas of collaboration. Discussions included electricity trade and broader energy connectivity between India and Bangladesh, officials said.
