earmark 12 per cent of the budgetary provisions for utilisation strictly towards the welfare of tribals.

The Chief Minister issued this direction in a meeting to review the demands of the United Tribal Associations Alliance (UTTA). He also told the officials of all the departments that have not yet earmarked 12 per cent of the budgetary funds for the welfare of tribals that they should do the same within three days after re- appropriating funds from other schemes.

The issue of filling up of backlog vacancies reserved for scheduled tribes was also discussed at the meeting and it was decided to launch a special recruitment drive for filling up posts reserved for ST’s within a period of two months. The heads of departments have been asked to report the progress of recruitment drive within 15 days.
