India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has said that global prosperity is dependent on continued peace and security and terrorism is a key threat to stability, progress and development.
Inaugurating BRICS media forum in New Delhi today, Ms Swaraj said, terrorism featured prominently in discussions and the outcome of just concluded BRICS summit. She said, false distinction between good and bad terrorism must be avoided.
The Minister said, when India took over Chair of BRICS, it laid out an ambitious agenda premised on building responsive inclusive and collective solutions. She said, selection of BIMSTEC as outreach group for BRICS this year is worth reflecting as the BIMSTEC nations represent polar opposite of terrorism promoting polity.
She said, the media forum is an opportunity for review and evaluation for marking one more milestone along the common journey. She added that 115 plus BRICS events have been held so far which includes meeting of senior officials, workshops, business meetings. She said, the events were not concentrated in Delhi and major cities but across the length and breadth of the country.
