Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has said that everyone must respect the judgment of Supreme Court regarding death sentence of 1993 Bombay blast convict Yakub Memon, who was executed this morning. Talking to media  outside Parliament, Mr Naqvi said political leaders should refrain from politicizing the issue.

The Minister said, the decision to execute Memon was a considered one and not taken in haste. He said, Memon had exhausted all the legal remedies and he could not prove himself innocent. Mr Naqvi said, death penalty to Memon is a clear message to terrorists that India will not tolerate terrorism on its soil.

Another Union Minister Jitendra Singh said execution of Yakub Memon will give some relief to the victims of 1993 Bombay blast. BSP Chief Ms Mayawati said, her party respects the order of the apex court but the Central government should expedite disposal of similar cases.
