The Government today assured the Lok Sabha that there will be no compromise on the issue of national security. Replying to a debate on the situation arising out of the recent terror attacks at Pathankot Air base, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said, as far as the policy towards Pakistan is concerned, India always wants good relations with all its neighbouring countries but not at the cost of national honour.
He rejected the opposition allegations of lack in coordination among the intelligence agencies and the security forces during Pathankot terror attack.
He maintained that there was close and effective coordination between the intelligence agencies, security forces and the Army.
The Home Minister said, because of effective border management, the infiltration from Pakistan has drastically come down.
He said, in 2014 there were 222 instances of infiltration as against 121 last year. Mr Rajnath Singh said, the government is conducting a security audit of the India-Pakistan border to make it foolproof against infiltration.
Intervening in the debate, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said, the whole operation to neutralise the terrorists lasted only 43 hours. He said seven jawans were martyred.
Such issues must not be politicized in national interest, he emphasized. The Defence Minister said all gaps have been filled and his ministry has done proper security audits of all military establishments to secure their safety.
