Evacuations from the Havelock Island in Andaman and Nicobar Island has started. Speaking to media navy spokesperson, Captain D.K.Sharma said, the two ships of Indian coast guard have already embarked upon about 200 people and are being evacuated.
He said two naval ships will now go to evacuate another 150 stranded people. Thereafter 200 more people will be evacuated.
After the weather became calm today the Island Lt. Governor Professor Jagdish Mukhi said that five ships of Andaman and Nicobar Island are put into operation in which 3 ships are of Indian Navy and 2 ships are of Coast Guard. Besides this, three Indian Air Force helicopters are also providing their services.
