It is learnt that congress has formulated a well calculated strategy to deal with Ramdev and people like him to save government and the party from embarrassing situation. Some strong signals have also been sent to yoga guru if he remained adamant over his proposed fast.

The meeting held at the prime minister’s residence was presided over by the Congress president Mrs. Sonia Gandhi. It was attended by Dr.Manmohan Singh and other senior leaders Pranab Mukherjee, AK Antony, P Chidambaram and Ahmed Patel.

Meanwhile, senior leaders of the party also met Mr. Pranab Mukherjee after the core group meeting and discussed ways and means to handle the situation. The government representatives will meet Ramdev on Friday to explain the steps taken by it to curb the menace of black money besides the multi-pronged strategy to fight corruption.  It is learnt that congress has formulated a well calculated strategy to deal with Ramdev. According to the sources, the Congress talked tough at the core group meet and said that the Government will continue its talks with Ramdev but on its own terms and conditions.

The Government has rejected Baba Ramdev’s demand of pulling 500 and 1000 rupees notes out of the market.
Following the development, Ramdev cancelled a press conference scheduled this evening in view of serious dialogue with government.

His aides told the reporters that the yoga guru would update the media about conclusive outcome Friday.
Meanwhile Congress has distanced itself from the government’s unprecedented step of sending four senior ministers to receive Ramdev at the airport here in a bid to persuade him not to go ahead with the protest saying it was “unnecessary” and the party has “nothing to do” with it.

“The party is not at all related to this entire exercise from here to the airport (ministers going to the airport to receive the Yoga Guru),” top sources in Congress have said.
