The Prime Minister Narendra Modi today pledged to eradicate Communalism and casteism from the country and stressed the need of unity in diversity for realisation of dreams of Indians.

Addressing the nation on the occasion of 69th Independence day after unfurling the tri-colour from rampart of Red fort in New Delhi today Prime Minister said “The poison of casteism and communalism has no place in India and we have to defeat these through development”.

He warned that the casteism and communalism would not be tolerated in the country.

Mr Modi stressed that unity in diversity will lead to the realisation of dreams of Indians. Saying that people’s participation is the biggest asset of a democracy, he said the team of 125 crore Indians can take the nation to new heights.

Mr.Modi has said that simplicity and unity is the greatest strength of India.

“If unity of India is destroyed, then the dreams of the people will also be destroyed” PM underlined.

Extending his greetings to the nation on the Independence Day, he said it was a morning of hope of the dreams and aspirations of 125 crore Indians.

The Prime Minister said paid homage to the great people who laid down their lives for India during country’s freedom struggle.

Prime Minister stressed on the need for financial inclusion and said government’s schemes must serve the poor. Noting that there is a new atmosphere of trust, he said the doors of banks have been opened to the poor through Jan Dhan Yojana to strengthen financial inclusion.

Mr Modi emphasised that bank accounts are essential for integrating the poor into the financial system. He said Rs. 20,000 crore have been deposited in 17 crore Jan Dhan bank accounts.

Mr Modi said his government has focused on social security and introduced Pradhan Mantri Beema Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana as promised.

Speaking about Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, Mr Modi praised the children by saying they have given maximum strength to the initiative. He said children are the brand ambassadors of the Abhiyaan.

The Prime Minister also lauded people from all walks of life, spiritual leaders, media persons and celebrities who worked to create awareness about the issue.

Mr Modi said people wondered about the kind of Prime Minister he was when he spoke about toilets and cleanliness in the Independence Day last year.

He said spreadng awareness on the issue was a success and the real work has just begun.

The Prime Minister laid stress on dignity of labour, saying that it has to be country’s national duty and should become the national character.

He said Shramev Jayate Yojna is an attempt to change the way people look at the labourers. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that country can be freed of corruption.

He said corruption has hollowed the system like termites and people want transparency. Saying that even the corrupt tend to give advice to others on how to deal with it, he exhorted that there is a need to take a lot of measures to curb corruption.

Mr Modi said government is working to simplify rules and ensure good governance. He said by introducing direct to bank subsidies using Aadhar and Jan dhan Yojana, the middlemen have been eradicated.

Mr Modi said the ‘Give it up’ campaign for LPG subsidy has been successful and 20 lakh people have given up LPG subsidy.

He said his government has auctioned coal, and FM Radio spectrum with complete transparency and zero corruption.

Mr Modi said three lakh crore rupees was generated through timely coal block allocation. He said no allegations of corruption have been made on his government since it came to power.

The Prime Minister said several steps have been taken to bring back black money in the past one year and NDA government formed an SIT under Supreme Court’s guidance the day it took over.

He said agreements have been reached with many nations who can provide information about black money.

Mr Modi said tough laws have ensured that nobody is transferring black money out of the country.

He said government has made 100 per cent Neem coating of Urea possible and now it can only be used for agriculture and not factories.

The Prime Minister stressed that India cannot develop till its eastern region develops.

He said gas pipelines are being installed and rail network improved in the region.

Prime Minister assured the servicemen that his government has accepted One Rank One Pension in principle and final talks are on. He expressed hope of arriving at positive result soon. He said the issue is complicated and promised to resolve it.

Mr Modi announced special scheme for miners and their areas, saying Rs. 6000 crore will be spent on it every year.

Questioning the practice of “interviews” for recruitments even at relatively junior levels, the Prime Minister called upon concerned departments to end this practice at the earliest, and to promote merit by recruiting only through transparent, online processes.

Ahead of his address, Mr Modi inspected the guard of honour and visited Rajghat and paid tributes to Father of The Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
