The CBI today registered two cases against former chief engineer of Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway Yadav Singh, on the direction of the Allahabad High Court. The investigating agency is also conducting raids at 14 places–12 in Noida and Greater Noida, and one each in Agra and Ferozabad. Details are awaited.

The move comes two weeks after a Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court directed the CBI to probe Yadav Singh for amassing disproportionate assets.

Meanwhile, the one-man judicial commission – under retired Justice (Retd) Amarnath Verma – set up by the Akhilesh Yadav-led Uttar Pradesh government on February 10 this year is continuing its investigation into the multi-crore-rupee Yadav Singh scam.
