The BJP office in Kolkata was attacked today, minutes after one of the most senior leaders of Mamata Banerjee’s party was arrested for alleged involvement in a ponzi scheme that bankrupted lakhs of small investors in Bengal.

“The police looked the other way as our office was attacked,” said BJP leader Sidharth Nath Singh, blaming Ms Banerjee’s ruling party for the vandalism.

After the attack, Central Reserve Police Force or CRPF was deployed outside the BJP office.

The BJP has blamed Trinamool Congress for alleged attack on its party Head Quarters in Kolkata after the arrest of TMC MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay by CBI in a chit fund scam case.

Briefing reporters in New Delhi, party Secretary Sidharth Nath Singh termed it as a planed attack by the TMC workers. He alleged that the TMC has no faith in democracy and law and order.
