The BEST bus strike that started yesterday midnight has affected the normal life of Mumbaikar who depend heavily on the bus transport system. The bus strike has resulted in over-crowding in trains and people can be seen waiting for taxis and auto-rickshaws.
The action committee of various BEST unions is not ready to change its stand till it gets the written assurance about its demand.
Mumbaikars are having a hard time since morning , as their second lifeline, the BEST is out of service. BEST buses are the second most preferred mode of transport for Mumbaikars after railway.
But today these BEST travellers had no option but to travel by either trains or by auto rickshaws or cabs. People are bound to wait longer than normal in queues and experience the problems in overcrowded trains and also of the overcharging by some of the auto and taxi drivers. It is raksha bandhan today people are visiting places to meet their relatives. However, railway has made special arrangements by opening more ticket windows considering the anticipated demand of BEST passengers.
