HYEDRABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Government has announced an ex gratia of Rs one lakh rupees each to the families of those who died due to heavy rain. Besides, the state Government would provide input subsidy to farmers for the next crop and farm loans. Meanwhile, the number of deaths due to heavy rains has gone up to 36. Standing crops in about 2.83 lakh hectares have been damaged.

Meanwhile, relief measures are underway in the coastal districts. Hundreds of villages are still water logged even after respite from rains.

A high alert was sounded in all the coastal districts as the low pressure in the Andaman Sea is gaining strength. According to the Cyclone Warning Centre in Visakhapatnam, the low pressure was changed into Depression and centred 1400 kms off the coast. It might convert into a cyclonic storm and likely to move towards the north coastal Andhra Pradesh before making a landfall.
