BJP President Amit Shah has said, the NDA government at the Centre has introduced several welfare measures for farmers in the country.
Addressing Kisan Maha Sabha at Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh this evening, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s major initiative was to re-open the closed urea manufacturing units across the country and to arrest black marketing of urea.
Mr Shah also reminded that the Centre has extended the crop loss limit from 2 to 4 hectares. The newly introduced e-market system has brought farmers in direct contact with the markets facilitating them to bypass middlemen for marketing their produce. Speaking on demonetisation, Mr. Shah said, it is not the intention of the government to make the farmers suffer as was being projected and propagated by the opposition parties. He condemned the leaders of opposition parties for misleading the farmers on the issue.
The BJP National President said due to the 14th Finance Commission, the Centre was not in a position to accord Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh. He also reminded that the 14th Finance Commission was actually constituted by the then UPA government. However, he said, the Centre has provided Andhra Pradesh a special package which is far better than the special category status. He added that the Union government is ready to extend tax exemptions for industries to set up their units in AP, besides filling up the deficit in economy being faced by the State government.
