modi2Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that accountability, responsibility and transparency were key to good governance. Addressing the civil services day function in New Delhi today, Modi said, administrative reforms were necessary for providing good governance.

He said, there was a need to give priority to perfection, capacity building and learning new technologies. He said, e-governance, economic governance and easy governance were the crucial and the day was not far when the world would  look at mobile governance. He said, there was a need to give impetus to reforms and technology.

Citing Goldman Sachs report, Mr Modi said the governance level in India is lower than the average of other Asian countries and it will take another 10 years to match to the average governance standards. Modi said, administrative reforms can enhance per-capita growth by one percent and it is a substantial amount. Referring to bureaucratic temperament and political interference, the Prime Minister said that both are inter-linked and the system can not do without political intervention, as it is the voice of the public. He said, bureaucracy and politicians were part of the same system and there was a need to find a way to work in harmony.

Mr Modi also asked every officer to try and interact with the students in order to inspire the coming generations. He also asked civil servants to practice effective time management and spend quality time with their families. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conferred awards for excellence in public administration to civil service officers. The award includes a medal, scroll and a cash prize.
