Two persons have been arrested in connection with the Saharanpur violence on May 9 in which a police out post and 20 vehicles were set ablaze.
In view of peace maintained in the district authorities have restored Internet services which was discontinued for last couple of days. The arrested persons have been identified as Rajan and Kadam Singh alias Shivam. Both are main accused of the may 9 arson incidents. They were arrested by the Special Investigation Team SIT set up to investigate the Saharanpur series of incidents of violence.
A local court has sent them jail for 14 days under judicial custody. District Magistrate Pramod Kumar Pandey has said that the Internet services have been restored in the district but the administration is keeping an eye on social media through surveillance teams of Saharanpur, Meerut and Lucknow. A total of 40 FIRs are lodged in connection with Saharanpur violence and 60 persons have been arrested. Then DM and district police chief have been suspended following the violence and divisional commissioner and DIG transferred.
The State Government has set up a SIT under additional superintendent of police and 10 experienced and capable police inspectors are included in it to investigate the incidents and book the culprits.
