India’s bid to host the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be presented to the IOC’s Future Host Commission for the first time at the end of this month, according to a release issued by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Indian Olympic Association President P T Usha said the bid will be based on the vision of “Rising Together”. Ahmedabad is India’s proposed host city.
The IOC has invited India, Germany, Qatar, Turkiye, Hungary, Republic of Korea and South Africa to present their projects. The bids will be assessed on venue plans, athlete experience, funding, political and public support, Games delivery and long-term legacy. India submitted its Expression of Interest to host the Games in 2024.
The IOC’s next phase after the November presentations will be Strategic Dialogue. The final decision will be taken through a vote at the IOC session in 2029. The host of the 2036 Games is expected to be known in mid-2029.a
