The Bar Council of India (BCI) has withdrawn the suspension of 126 Tamil Nadu lawyers, including leaders of various bar associations. The lawyers were suspended over their protest against amendments to the Advocates Act.
The suspension has been revoked following a letter written by Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry (BTCP) to BCI Chairman Mannan Kumar Mishra.
BTCP sources said yesterday that the this information has been conveyed to BCTP Chairman D Selvam by the Bar Council of India.
The BCI on 24th of July had suspended these lawyers and prohibited them from practising in any court or tribunal in the country for spearheading the protest against amendments to the disciplinary rules under the Advocates Act.
