A AKHTER

Even as President Parnab Mukkhrjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not send customary Independence Day greeting to Pakistan on august 14, this year, and PM sending strong message to Pakistan from Red Fort, Indian Border Security Force, BSF today gifted box of traditional Indian sweets to Pakistani Rangers at Attari/Wagah border the occasion of Independence Day today.

At the time of handing over of sweets to Pakistani Counterparts by BSF, both the forces were looking relaxed as they hugged and shook hands with each others, besides sharing pleasantries for few minutes .

A special cultural function was organised by the Indian authorities at the joint check post, some 30 km from Amritsar, where the national flag was hoisted in the morning and the symbolic Retreat ceremony, that saw a gathering of thousands of people, was conducted in the evening.

Yesterday, Pakistani Rangers had offered traditional Pakistani sweets to their Indian counterparts on the occasion of Independence Day of Pakistan.

Border guards from both sides normally exchange greetings and sweets on the occasion of festivals and other occasions like Independence Day of both countries as a goodwill gesture.
