More than 70 school children fell ill after consuming Mid Day Meal in Lucknow Wednesday. The incident took place at a government primary school at Juggaur in Chinhat area of capital city Lucknow.
After the students had mid-day meal today, they started feeling uneasy and complained of stomach ache, an official source said. Ambulances were rushed to the school and 64 students were sent to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, district magistrate Rajshekhar said.
Doctors said that all the students are out of danger and only three have been admitted for further treatment and they too will be discharged soon, said DM. Food samples have being collected from the school campus and the food safety department has also collected the samples for lab testing from Akshay Patra, the Mathura NGO involved in supply of mid-day meal.
The government has taken a serious view of the matter as this is the second case in recent months. Earlier on July 29, over 50 students of a government primary school at Lucknow fell ill after consuming milk provided under mid-day meal scheme.
