Five people have killed near Ludhiana late Friday night due to leakage of Ammonia gas from a gas tanker on the Delhi-Ludhiana highway. More than 150 have been admitted to various hospitals at Khanna, Doraha and Ludhiana after they reported uneasiness in breathing and fainted.
Ludhiana Rural Police Chief Gurpreet Singh told AIR that the incident occurred at Doraha near Ludhiana when the tanker was trying to pass through a bridge. He said, because of the low height of the bridge, one of the valves of the tanker damaged resulting in leakage of the gas.
