fund allotted to State Minority Welfare and Haj Minister Anees Ahmad Khan to a society run by the minister’s family members. It has also recommended the government to take disciplinary action against Pilibhit Chief Development Officer (CDO) Surender Singh and his subordinates in this case.
In the absence of any proposed guidelines under the MLA fund to initiate any action against legislators, the Lokayukt has left the final decision in this regard with the Chief Minister.
The CDO released about Rs 94 lakh from the discretionary fund of legislators to educational organisations run by the minister Anis Ahmad Khan alias ‘Phool Babu’.
The matter came to light following a complaint from former minister Ramsaran Verma, who alleged that legislator’s discretionary fund was being misused by minister minority affairs for his own educational institutions. The amount of around Rs 94 lakh was released to Shafi Khan Memorial Muslim Public Education Society, Bisalpur and other institutions in 2007-08 from the legislator’s fund.
However, Khan has termed the charges against him as an act of political vendetta.  He said that the complainant in the case was a political rival and had made several complaints against him in past. He said that CDO has the right to approve and sanction the amount of MLA fund to a society.
