The high court has put July 14 as the next date of hearing of the case. The HC verdict has given enough time to Jamia to take admission under minority character guaranteed to it by the NCMEI. Jamia has put on hold new admission policy due to the case pending in the court. NCMEI verdict was  challenged in high court by some group of Jamia. Now Jamia can start admission process. HC had earlier too refused to stay the NCMEI verdict.

As per the new rules, 30 per cent of the total seats in each course will be earmarked for Muslim applicants, 10 per cent of the total seats in each course will go to Muslim women applicants and another 10 per cent will be reserved for Muslim Other Backward Classes and Scheduled Tribes as notified under the Central government list). In case seats remain vacant under those categories reserved for women and OBC and ST Muslims, these will automatically get transferred into the category of general Muslim applicants.

5 per cent seats in all undergraduate/diploma courses will be filled by internal students of Jamia Millia Islamia who have passed their qualifying examination from the Jamia schools as regular students, provided that such applicants must have been on the rolls of the schools for a continuous period of five years.

On February, 22 the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (NCMEI) granted Jamia a minority status.
