Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leader Abhijit Dipke has launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the five-day judicial remand of two CJP leaders—Sourav Das and Ashutosh Ranka—who were arrested for allegedly trespassing at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. Speaking in Nagpur on Wednesday, Dipke accused the Prime Minister of enforcing an “undeclared emergency” across the country.
Outrage Over the Arrest of Sourav and Ranka
Questioning the rationale behind the arrests, Dipke asked what crime the two leaders committed by hoisting the Tricolour at Jantar Mantar. Directing his remarks at PM Modi, he said, “I want to tell Prime Minister Narendra Modi: if you want to impose an emergency in the country, make an official declaration. Why act like cowards and run an undeclared emergency where people are locked up for five days just for hoisting the national flag? Not even during the actual Emergency was such a thing witnessed.”
Accusing the government of making flag-hoisting a punishable offense, Dipke challenged, “Show some courage instead of cowardice. If you have the guts, officially declare an emergency.”
CJP and the INDIA Bloc Share a Common Goal
When asked about the opposition INDIA bloc’s protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Dipke clarified that while CJP operates as an independent pressure group against the ruling dispensation, it is not against the opposition alliance. “The protests by the INDIA bloc and CJP share the exact same objective,” he noted.
Recalling his statements on X (formerly Twitter) from Tuesday, Dipke warned the public against falling for “divide-and-rule” tactics. He pointed out how the government treats different protests differently—cracking down heavily on one while allowing another—to foster suspicion and make citizens fight each other instead of holding those in power accountable. “Don’t let conspiracy theories divide us,” he urged.
Paying Tribute at Deekshabhoomi
During his visit to Nagpur, Dipke visited Deekshabhoomi—the sacred site where Dr. B.R. Ambedkar embraced Buddhism with thousands of followers on October 14, 1956—to pay his respects.
Asserting that India is governed by the Constitution and Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals, Dipke stated, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi or anyone else can try as hard as they want to impose RSS ideology on this nation, but they will not succeed. This country will always run on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s vision.”
Sourav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were taken into custody early Tuesday after allegedly breaching barricades and entering Jantar Mantar—a designated non-notified protest zone—while shouting slogans demanding the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar. Following a violation of peace-maintenance bonds, a court sent both leaders to Tihar Jail on Wednesday for a five-day judicial custody.
