The West Bengal government has abolished the Madrasah Service Commission by merging it with the School Service Commission. A notification in this regard was issued yesterday evening. The state Cabinet had approved the decision on 5th October.
Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari had announced a few days ago that all appointments in madrasahs would henceforth be made through the School Service Commission.
Minority Affairs Minister Khudiram Tudu said the move would ensure transparent and impartial recruitment of teachers in madrasahs, while preserving the distinct identity of madrasah education and providing wider opportunities for meritorious candidates.
It may be noted that the state government has recently brought Aliah University under the Higher Education Department. The university was under the Madrasah Education Department earlier.
