Earlier, in June 2009, a 20-year-old girl had lodged a police complaint alleging that she was raped by the actor at his residence. Shiney Ahuja was arrested on June 14 and released on bail three months later. During the trial, the girl however, claimed that she had filed the complaint at the behest of the woman who had secured her the job at Shiney’s residence. Shiney, throughout the trial had argued that he was being falsely implicated.
