NEW DELHI: (AMN) The burden on Security agencies in Jama Masjid shoot out case has increased after the sleuths found that the email ID, [email protected], which was used to send the mail to media offices after the incident, was created using a US IP address.
In view of the probe Delhi Police are sending a Letter Rogatory (LR) to the US to seek information from Google on the person who created the ID. They are also in touch with the ministry of external affairs for help.
According to a report in the Indian Express, the mail sent to the media offices after the incident, was created using a California IP address. Police have also tracked down a second IP address — in Mumbai.
The report said that the email ID from the US IP address was created a few minutes before the dud car bomb blast. “The Mumbai IP address was used to send the mail to media offices. Delhi Police suspects the person who created the ID passed on the address and password to the person who sent out the Indian Mujahideen mail”, the report said quoting intelligence sources.
An IP address in the US does not necessarily mean that the mail ID was created by a person based there. A person in India can send mails from IP addresses of other countries if he uses an anonymous proxy server.
