Met Department issues heavy rain alert in several areas of Maharashtra, Telangana

Cyclonic storm Gulab has weakened into a deep depression after making landfall over north Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha coast last night. According to information, it is likely to cross Odisha by afternoon today while heading towards neighbouring Chhattisgarh.

No loss of life or damage to property has so far been reported from the cyclone affected areas of the state.

Under the influence of the cyclonic storm Gulab, which made a landfall between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh coasts, all 36 districts of Maharashtra are under heavy rain alert for today and tomorrow. Vidarbha, Marathwada and North Central Maharashtra are likely to get heavy to very heavy rainfall and strong gusty winds from today and tomorrow under the influence of the system. Parts of Konkan region are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places along with thunderstorms, lightning and strong gusty winds today and tomorrow.
