The Congress party has emerged as the single largest party gaining the highest number of seats in the Urban Local bodies election in Karnataka.

Out of 2662 wards, Congress has won 982 followed closely by BJP with 929 and JD(S) has won in 372 wards.

In 329 wards, the Independent candidates have won over major political parties.

In Dakshin Kannada and Udupi districts, BJP has dominated the results. In Shivamogga also BJP has performed well winning 18 out of 35 wards.

The JD(S) is set to hold power in Hassan and Mandya districts.

Several local bodies have sprung up fractured mandate. In Mysuru and Tumkur City Corporation, BJP has emerged as single largest party, however, JD(S) has decided to support Congress to form ruling coalition.

Out of 135 wards in the three City Corporations, BJP has won 54, Congress in 36 and JD(S) in 30 wards.

In 927 wards of city municipalities, BJP has garnered 370, Congress 294 and JD(S) 106 wards.

In 1247 Town Municipalities and 400 Town Panchayats Congress has won the highest number of seats followed by BJP and later by JD(S).
