PMPrime Minister Narendra Modi today chaired a high-level meeting at Kavaratti in Lakshadweep to review the situation arising due to Cyclone Ockhi which left a trail of destruction in the Union Territory.

Mr Modi has reached Kanyakumari to take stock of the disaster and relief measures. In the evening, Prime Minister will visit the worst hit Poonthura region in Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala. He is also scheduled to meet the affected fishermen families, the state administration and other officials concerned in Thiruvananthapuram, before leaving for Delhi.

The cyclone Ockhi that stuck on Nov 30th in Kanyakumari and Kerala coast, has so far claimed 70 lives in Kerala and 14 in Tamil Nadu.

The search operations by the combined forces for the missing fishermen, reportedly around 100, is still continuing.
