Talks with Pakistan to turn course of history: PM Modi

AMN /

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that New Delhi is resuming talks with Islamabad to “try and turn the course of history” and bring an end to terrorism. He however made it clear that Pakistan would be judged by its commitment on terrorism.

“India is engaging Pakistan to try and turn the course of history, bring an end to terrorism, build peaceful relations, advance cooperation and promote stability and prosperity in our region,” said Modi, addressing the Combined Commanders’ Conference on board INS Vikramaditya Tuesday.

“There are many challenges and barriers on the path. But the effort is worth it because the peace dividends are huge and the future of our children is at stake. So we will test their intentions to define the path ahead. For this, we have started a new NSA-level dialogue to bring security experts face to face with each other,” he said.

Mr. Modi said that the country will never drop its guard on security and judge the progress of the dialogue on the neighbouring country’s commitment on the terrorism. This was for the first time that the Combined Commander’s conference was held outside Delhi.

Mr Modi said, Congress has made a mockery of Parliament’s functioning.

On the occasion, Mr Modi unveiled a statue of former Chief Minister of Kerala R Sankar.
