Special programme to increase population of Parsi

Union Minister for Minority Affairs Dr Najma Heptulla today said, government has taken several steps for the inclusive development of minority community in the country. Dr Heptulla said, government has a special programme for the minuscule Parsi community to arrest the decline in their population. The minister said, government is providing scholarship to post matric students directly in their accounts and pre-matric scholarship is being given in the parents’ account. The Minister said, AADHAR number is also linked into the accounts for transparency.

Dr Heptulla said, government has taken several steps for skill development and launched Upgrading the Skills and Training in Traditional Arts and Crafts for Development, USTAAD scheme. She said, the scheme aims at improving the degrading conditions of world famous Banarasi Saree weavers who belong to the minority communities.

She also informed about Seekho aur Kamao Scheme where minority youth are imparted training for upgrading the skills in various modern and traditional vocations to enable them to get suitable employment. She said, Maulana Azad National Academy for Skills, MANAS is also an ambitious skill development architecture, aimed at imparting training to the minority population, for skills that are currently in demand.
