Karnataka: Normal life disrupted as monsoon fury continue

Normal life has been disrupted in the hilly and coastal regions of the state as the monsoon fury continued unabated.

Train services from Bengaluru to Mangaluru were suspended at Hassan as landslides were reported at three places in the Western Ghat section.

In the Malnad belt, almost all minor rivers and ponds were full and the Bhadra river is overflowing.

A holiday has been declared for schools and colleges in the rain- affected districts as a precautionary measure as flash flood waters have gushed into low lying areas.

In Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Karwar and Mangaluru districts, authorities are working to restore electricity supply which was disrupted as more than 1400 electric poles were uprooted in gusty winds and heavy rain.
