US Ambassador to India Richard R Verma has said that the both the US and India have made great progress in two-way trade and investment and stressed to carry out it further. Talking to media persons in Guwahati Tuesday night, he said that the US President Barack Obama has set the goal to increase investment up to 500 billion dollars in two-way trade.

Mr. Verma said that his country is very supportive to the Make in India campaign. He said that defence sector has the real potential under it. He stressed that education, health, power and infrastructure are the some of the areas having great potential for both the countries.

Earlier, participating in a program organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce, the US Ambassador said that both the countries have made great progress in bilateral relations during last 10 years. He said that number of Indians that visit US has increased to 152 percent.

He said that number of students from both the countries visiting each other have also increased considerably. Assam Chief Secretary VK Pepersenia appealed US companies to invest in the state. He said that steps have been taken to provide an atmosphere on ease of doing business.
