The UP Molasses Control Amendment Bill 2023 was passed in the UP Legislative Assembly today. Regarding the Bill, the Government made it clear in the House that with the introduction of this Bill, no tax will be imposed on the farmers or on jaggery, but a regulatory charge of 20 rupees per quintal will be taken from the Khandsari unit. This Bill will not only control the transportation of illegal molasses but also curb the manufacture of illegal liquor.
A report was also presented in the House to make rules regarding giving the Best Legislator Award in UP Legislative Assembly. The Government also passed the UP State Legislature Amendment Bill 2023 to increase the pension from 10,000 rupees to 25,000 rupees to former MLAs in Legislative Assembly.
During question hour in reply to a question Health Minister Brijesh Pathak said, the government is working to improve the facilities in Trauma centres and more doctors will also be deputed.
While in the Legislative Council opposition raised the issue of the restoration of old pensions. Dissatisfied with the reply of the government, members of the Samajwadi Party walked out of the House raising anti-government slogans.
