In a major reshuffle,in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today removed eight (8) ministers from cabinet. Governor Ram Naik today removed them on the advice of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

Out of eight ministers five of them are cabinet rank ministers while three others are ministers of state.

Beside this, on the suggestion of chief minister, portfolios of nine other ministers have been taken over by Chief Minister himself till the new arrangements are in place.

According to press statement issued by Rajbhawan in Lucknow today, the eight ministers who have been removed from the Akhilesh government are backward class welfare minister Ambika Chaudhary, stamp duty and civil defense minister Raja Mahendra Aridaman Singh , textile and silk industry minister Shiv Kumar Beria,Khadi and village industry minister Narad Rai.

While Shivkant ojha who was handling technical education department also lost his ministerial berth and his deputy and State rank minister for technical education Alok Kumar Shakya has also been removed.

Minister for state for basic education Yogesh Pratap Singh and small and medium industries state minister Bhagwat Sharan Gangwar also lost their positions.

While charge of present portfolios of nine other Ministers including Health and Family Welfare Minister Ahmed Hasan and Food and Civil Supply minister Raghu raj Pratap singh Alias Raja Bhaiya have taken back by chief minister and they will get new assignments in this reshuffle.

The other ministers who are now ministers without portfolios are Social Welfare and SC/ST Welfare minister Awadesh Prasad, Food Processing Minister Paras Nath Yadav and Basic Education Minister Ram Govind Chaudhary.

It is expected that they are going to be assigned new portfolios by the chief minister.

Other ministers including transport minister Durga Prasad Yadav, secondary education minister Mehaboob Ali also going to get new responsibilities.

Ministers Brahama Shankar Tripathi and Iqbal Mehamood will also get new assignments in this reshuffle.

Speculation about the Akhilesh government cabinet reshuffle was being discussed in political circle for last few days and got momentum when the Chief Minister Akhilesh yadav met the state governor Ram Naik yesterday.

On several occasions in past few months the SP supremo MulayM Singh Yadav also warned Akhilesh Yadav for non functioning and controversial ministers and advice him to take necessary remedial action.

According to Rajbhawan, the new ministers of Akhilesh Government will take oath for their portfolios on 31st October at 10.30 am at Rajbhawan in Lucknow.
